Bing Honors Pearl Harbor Day

Today on Microsoft’s Bing search engine home page:

As usual on Bing, there are several hotspots on the image that give tidbits of info when you mouse over them. For instance, Murdoc didn’t know that 37 pairs of brothers were assigned to the USS Arizona.

  1. A song from the time.

We should also remember that once we kicked their asses (and the Germans and Italians too), they came around to our way of thinking pretty damn fast.

  2. I have to confess; I’m sure grateful to our parents (hopefully not wrongfully dragging too many of you fellow posters into the ranks of crusty old ill tempered boomers) generation for all they did during the WW II years and afterwards.

One thing working overseas these last few years has made me realise is for all our faults, I’m damn glad to be an American, live in America and it was all due to the hard work and sacrifice of so many.

I’d also like to put in a good word for our current generation of fighters, and all those who support them on the home front too. They’ve been kicking ass and taking names, and being used up in “nation building” for a long time now. Much longer than WW II lasted; they are a great generation too!
