  1. Wed.27 April…Interesting news:

The current head of US military operations in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, is become the new director of the CIA, it was reported today.

He will replace Leon Panetta at the spy agency’s helm.

Mr Panetta will become US defence secretary, ABC News reported today.

I guess Gates has been fired???????????

  2. I had no idea what a “passing exercise” is, and it took me a half hour of googling to find even a basic description.

The old global security site talks about it briefly.

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/ex-pacfleet.htm

My interpretation would be “Tooling around off the coast of somewhere.”
