Bruce Springsteen Says Trump Is Actually Appealing To ‘Un-American’ Tendencies

Surprise! Bruce Springsteen wants to go on the record about his dislike for Donald Trump:

The “Born to Run” singer, who has candidly expressed his disapproval of the president-elect before, discussed his fears regarding Trump’s presidency in a wide-ranging conversation on an episode of Mark Maron’s “WTF” podcast released Monday.

“I’ve felt disgust before, but never the kind of fear that you feel now,” Springsteen said. “It’s as simple as the fear of, is someone simply competent enough to do this particular job? Do they simply have the pure competence to be put in the position of such responsibility?”

I’m always amused by folks who have supported Obama all this time suddenly worried about things like incompetence.

I was a huge fan of Springsteen’s music while I was growing up. It resonated with me on many levels and I believe that it influenced me as much or more than any other music I listened to.

It’s too bad that his vocal political stance has sucked most of the enjoyment out of it. And makes me question the values that were used to create the music in the first place.

  1. The irony is that Springsteen seems to be in direct opposition to the content of his songs. I recall he sung about unnecessary wars and factories shutting down. Yet he actively campaigned for the War Party’s candidate who also was a supporter of TPP and other free trade deals that have resulted in so many factories shutting down.

Meanwhile he vehemently opposes the guy who seeks to keep us out of unnecessary wars and who has already started bringing back factory jobs.

    Go figure.

    1. I often really do wonder how much of what I thought he meant was based on how I viewed things rather than how he viewed things. Especially the older stuff.

      It’s very disappointing to me.
